Watch our Mixologist, Dorian, create a delicious and affordable Whiskey Sour from the presence of his home with a few simple and budget-friendly ingredients!

Ingredients:

  • Bourbon or Bourbon Whiskey (2 oz) - Our Connoisseur used Marker's Mark (Bourbon Whiskey) - $42.95 at the LCBO for a 750ml bottle

  • Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice (1 oz)

  • Egg Whites (1 oz)

  • Simple Syrup (1 oz) - You can make this at home by boiling and mixing one cup of sugar and one cup of water

  • Bitters (2 dashes) - Our Connoisseur used Angostura Aromatic Bitters - $9.95 at the LCBO for a 100ml bottle

  • Ice (to taste)

  • Orange Peel (for garnish)

Materials:

  • Cocktail Shaker + Strainer - Our Connoisseur used a Kitchwise Cocktail Shaker Bar Set from amazon for CDN$ 33.95 (https://amzn.to/38tOXbq)

  • Whiskey Glass

  • Peeler or Knife

  • Measuring Shot Glass

Average Price according to our Mixologists: $6 - $20

We know what you're thinking, why the steep price range? How can the same drink be priced $14 more or $14 less? That's outrageous? Well, it's simple. Unfortunately, most of the time it's not the same drink or quality. Too often, the integrity and quality of a Whiskey Sour is jeopardized by an inexpensive and overly watered-down whiskey and sour mix. Instead of following similar steps to that of what was displayed by our Mixologist Dorian, bars and nightclubs typically use a pre-made lemon juice mix and barely enough whiskey or bourbon while creating their Whiskey Sours. For an overcrowded and understaffed bar or club, this mixture is often the most convenient method as it's cheap, simple, and less time consuming for staff, allowing them to serve a higher quantity of customers.

Making a quality Whiskey Sour requires time and dedication, and in this case, you get what you pay for! But instead of paying $6 for a watered-down drink or $20 for a premium Whiskey Sour, you now have the power to create a high-quality Whiskey Sour from the comfort of your home for a low cost of approximately $3.00 per glass. That's less than the cost of a Twisted Tea ($3.05).
